is a feature-length film written & directed by Daviel Shy, based on the novel of the same title by Djuna Barnes.

The film is a kaleidoscopic tribute to women’s writing through the friendships, jealousies, flirtations and publishing woes of female authors and artists in 1920’s Paris.

THE LADIES ALMANACK previewed at THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART in Chicago, premiered at OUTFEST in 2017, and opened theatrically to a sold-out ROXIE THEATER in 2018.

Prior to The Almanack, Writer/Director Daviel Shy wrote, directed, and shot nine short films including DAS BUFFET IST ERÖFFNET (2012) and THE TYRANT (2013). Her productions unite her fine art background (SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO, MFA) with her radical politics to create utopian visions that center the outcast and challenge the status quo.
